LAST BLOG POST!!! :(

WAAHHHH!!!!!*sniffle* hi...........

I'm sad! This is the last blog post...Like...Ever ...Well, maybe not ever, eventually I might go back and do another blog post. Well, I'm too depressed to be all hyper, so I'll just finish the topic and go cry in my emo corner. If I could go to any country in the world, I would say I would probably go to either Taiwan (which is where I'm going next year anyway, so I don't think that counts). But Japan just seems like a really insanely cool place to be. I have a friend that's been there, and she says it's really clean and the people are extremely friendly and polite. Which is COOL! haha, anyway

Anyway, reflections. Well you guys remember when I talked about drumline tryouts? welllll....*drumroll* I MADE IT! YEAHHH. bass 3 :) haha, so that's really cool and I'm totally psyched about that. And my uber-cheesy parents got me 3 pink roses after. Yup they're strange, but that's why I love them :)

Anyway, BYE YOU GUYS!!!! I'll miss you! *sniff* *runs off sobbing*

haha :)

BLOG TOPIC NUMERO SSSSIIIIIXXXXX

Hello ALL! This is gonna be a snappy blog today because I'm HYPED UP for no particular reason. Reallyreallyreallyreallyreally hyperrrr!!!

So this blog topic is about overpopulation. What have previous countries done about overpopulation? Well, the first thing that honestly comes to mind is China. Them and their stinkin' one-child policy. Dummmb if you ask me. Because honestly, what happens if people have twins? Triplets? Do they have to pay a fine? Are the children given up for adoption? Another thing that China has done would be, and they don't even know this is hurting them, the rejection of little girls. Bringing them to other countries. Abandoning them. Aborting them. etc, etc, etc... But seriously people, in case you never came to this conclusion GUYS CAN'T HAVE BABIES!!! What the heck are you going to do with all those guys running around? Not ALL of them can go gay you know...Anyway, rant over.
So recently we've had drumline tryouts. Yeah, that crazy thing I was talking about in my earlier blogs. It's CRAZY and in the past two days a lot of people have been cut from the line and moved on down to pit. Which sucks for pit, because they're starting to need alternate spots. Yeah. not enough instruments to use there. So a lot of pit people are getting cut and moved to alternate as well. but not me, yaaayy!!! At least, not yet. Final cuts are on may 3, so I won't find out if I made it until then!!! >.< Ticks me off... But anyway, in the meantime, I'm gonna like, double my practice, because I'm not going down without a fight.

ANYWAYS, BAAIIII!!! *goes off to drink more red bull*

"What about all that talk about screwing up future events?" "I figured...What the hell"

In case you didn't know, that quote was from the amazing movie "Back to the Future." It's an amazing movie about a scientist that builds a time machine OUT OF A CAR. How'd you like to drive that puppy downtown?

And that's kind of what this whole blog is going to be about- not a time machine/car, of course. The future! It's an exciting concept, going twenty or so into the future or past just to see what your life would be like. Who you married, what your kids were like, what kind of job or career you pursued... But say you were going to put some things together and bury into the ground to be discovered in the future. It's like having a visitor from the past. Well, the first thing I would do would be write a letter or possibly video for the future me/whoever to see. I would summarize what's happened in my lifetime, and what my life's like. Tell them all about the current events. Then comes the booty! Here's a little list of what I would like to put in my little time capsule. I couldn't choose JUST one thing, so don't eat me please!! (though extra credit points would be nice)
* An iPhone Fully loaded with music and movies of the time period (along with a charger of course) I'd probably put some of the harry potter movies in there, the movie "Up" probably "Brokeback mountain" because that was a BIG ol' deal when it came out, and of course, "Avatar," the biggest leap for the progress of computer graphics of ALL time. Also, some lord of the rings, and Wall-e, just for fun. Also, music by artists such as Lady Gaga, Beonce, Taylor Swift, Rascall Flatts, and the Black eyed Peas to name a few.
* TONS of magazines. We all love them, and they're good sources for pop culture.
* A laptop of some sort with the current operating system. I sure would have loved to have seen an old dinosaur from the 80s.
* Pictures of Austin, from a distance, and up close, so they could compare and see what it used to be like
* CLOTHES. Ones of current trends/etc. Obviously nothing of mine, but stuff that really defines what fashion today looks like
* A pair of converse. Because if they are still being made in the future, it'd be cool to have one from the past (and they'll probably be making those shoes until the end of time).
* A picture of Anderson. Because if it's gone or changed by then, it should be remembered as it was.
* A picture of our current car
* Pictures of our current home
* A scrapbook of my life, with full commentary from me so they know exactly what growing up was like.

So, what happened with me recently is...Honestly not too much. I've been getting ready for drumline tryouts, which admittedly, I am SO FREAKED about. You have no idea. Really, you don't. My heart jumps a little now just thinking about it. I've been working my butt off, 2 hours a day when I can. And thanks to my intensity, things have slipped out of my life that really shouldn't. I've turned down multiple sleepovers with my beloved friends, and several family outings now, because I needed to practice. My grades have slipped a bit. They're still okay, but not as great as they should be. And my piano has been completely down the drain. And on top of that, everyone that knows me probably thinks I'm INSANE by now. And I don't disagree. Maybe I am crazy, maybe I'm not...I honestly don't know. It all depends on the turnouts. I don't know what they'll be or even how I'll react, but I know I'll be proud of myself for all the work I put into it, and I'll definitely be relieved when they're finally over.

In other news, I've deactivated my facebook account, and made my mom change the password (without telling me what it is) so I can only get onto it when I ask over the weekends. It's just too much of a distraction for me, and frankly, it's a little too addictive.

ANYWAY, LIVE LONG AND PROSPER, Y'ALL!!!! :D

Favorite regioonnn!!!.....*drum roll please...*

Hey all! Or as they say on mars "[zzWEASRUWKE$ha039U0Q2.**#$)@8688777"

Alright now lets just talk about my favorite region of study and that iss....*drums failingly on keyboard*

....THIS ONE!!!YAY!

That's right people, it took me half a school year of waiting, but we've finally reached the region I've been waiting for! This might sound a little weird, but I love pretty much anything from asian cultures! I absolutely LOVE manga and anime (*dork*) am taking Chinese, have had a foreign exchange student from Taiwan, and Memoirs of a Geisha and Slumdog millionaire are pretty much the best movies EVER. Just saying. I love learning about Asian cultures more than anything. I've always liked Japans beautiful artwork, China's great literature/amazingly fun language, and India's fascinating culture. I've always just felt really drawn to it ever since I was a little girl, and one of these days, I want to go to one of those places, just to experience the completely different way of life. Anywhere, really. Heck, I'd just be happy to go to Chinatown :D

But anwyay, enough dorky rants...On to the serious nerdage. Are you ready for this? Because I'm about to talk about band yet again...But I've been pretty much insane with the practicing recently. Drumline tryouts are coming up, and I'm both really excited, and really nervous for them to come. I want a bass spot really bad, but I honestly don't think that It'll happen. But either way, I've been working hard for it- practicing two or more hours a day, working out (it takes some MUSCLE to carry a drum) and making healthy choices so I'm not a limp spaghetti noodle for tryouts :D Haha, anway. Enjoy the awesome clip of the marching band and perform to oooo and ahh!!!

FREE TOPIC!!!! :D

Hello all *insert usual greeting here* now, I think you all should know, that when "free topic" comes up as a blog topic, I JUMP for joy! So I'm pumped and ready to go! I can talk about anything any everything. Today, the only thing I have that's been going on in my life is...Well, band. I know. How lame am I? :D But come on. Have you ever played "day-o" on the steel drums in an ensemble? Well it's pretty much completely and totally freaking awesome. Not to mention, for the first time ever, I got to strap a bass drum TO my actual body. Instead of just watching the drum with a desperate look on my face and drool on my chin from a distance. No, actually playing it is must better.

Speaking of band, there's this really awesome video you should check out! Just a group of people rocking out and having fun-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJKythlXAIY

I haven't really done anything with my life since my last topic, though. My life has calmed down quite a bit, actually, and hey, that's cool with me. I prefer a low-drama environment whenever possible. And all that extra time has led to a lot of time on the soul-sucking website called FACEBOOK. It's going to be the death of me someday. I swear.

Peace out girl scouts!
:D

TEC MADNESS!!!!!! D8

HELLO ALL! or as they say in Taiwan, HELLO ALL, only they say it in Chinese.

Today, we will be discussing the wonderful thing that is Technology! Good lord, I love Technology. I would probably not survive without it. (That there's an exaggeration. If you're me, you'll use it quite a lot in your normal life). Think about all the good that technology has done for us. Not only has it changed the way we work in regular life, but it's changed the way we think, and it's changed the way we feel about things. There are things in the world that you could say aren't school appropriate, and the internet exposes you to that. But it's not really bad. Think about it, before the internet, things like facebook, myspace, and twitter didn't exist. So socializing was a lot different. You had to arrange dates face-to-face, and if you wanted to talk to your friend, you had to find the time to get on the phone and call them yourselves. Things like asking someone out was also a lot more terrifying, because you had to actually face them, instead of going up on facebook and asking them over the internet. If anything, it's hurt our social skills. Given us the option of hiding behind the internet instead of talking face-to-face or on the phone. it's made us lazier, but it's also helped us. For example, for things like homework, or classes, we're able to use it as the best resource for research. The world is at your fingertips.

Now, the reason my greeting was Chinese-oriented is this. I have an exchange student staying with me these past few weeks, and her name is Laura. The whole experience has really opened up my eyes, and I've been given the opportunity to be exposed to different cultures. And I've found, surprisingly, that a lot of things in Taiwan are not that different than in the US. For example, Laura knows celebrities like Miley Cyrus (gross as that sounds), Sandra Bullock, she's even seen the Blind Side, My sisters' keeper, and Avatar. And not only that, did you know most people in Taiwan have learned english? at least 70% of the people in Taiwan know english already. Anyway, goodbye!

Darfur! (pronounced "darFOUR," not "darFUR")

This new blog topic is going to be on a more serious note than my last ones. After the Holocaust in the 1940s, the US basically claimed that they wouldn't let this kind of thing happen ever again. But it's happening right now. In 2003 a group called the Janjaweed has committed heinous crimes against humanity.

In Darfur, Sudan, because of this, over 400,000 people have been killed. To put this in perspective, there are about 2,000 students at Anderson. Say there's about 500 faculty and staff members, making to a total of about 2,500 people total. Think of all the people you know, and I mean ALL of them, that you know at the school; your friends, your teachers. Think of passing periods when the hallways are packed with kids. Multiply this number of people by 200. Think of the UT stadium in Austin, The Darrell K Royal Memorial stadium, which holds about 80,000 people. The people killed in Darfur is FIVE TIMES that many people. There's currently 26,900 people living in Austin. The amount of people killed in Darfur is FIFTEEN TIMES that many people. All of those lives lost because America was too chicken to interfere soon enough. Now granted it's not as extreme as the 11 million men, women, and children that were slaughtered during the Holocaust, but if we don't interfere soon, this could get even more out of hand.

Think how big and powerful America is. The leading country of the WORLD, and how easily we could just interfere in this horrible situation. How easily we could just come in and put pressure on the government. We could do anything- demand they stop. Even reduce trade and look elsewhere for the materials. All this going on, and we're more interested in John and Kate's divorce than millions of people that need our help? I think it goes without saying that we're the most to blame for this going on. Because we have the resources within our reach to put a stop to this, and we're not DOING anything. It's OUR fault this has gotten so out of hand. We need to interfere and put at stop to this before it spreads, and we're too busy debating whether it's really genocide or not rather than trying to put a stop to it. Genocide or not, people are dying every day NOW because we're too worried about getting our hands dirty.

Here's a good video targeting the Genocide in Darfur:

*ENORMOUS sigh....*

Well, on a brighter note, the most exciting part of MY last two weeks has been...Well, really not much. Although (sorry to takl about band again) we just recently finished one of the BIGGEST competitions of the year for band. Region Band try-outs. It's definetly a big one. I've been working on the music since about July, and this Thursday we went over to Westlake HS for a good five hours. Basically, we played four boring peices on Marimba (2 for this), Timpani and Snare drum that, lets face it, no one really cares about. But now I'm just glad now that I don't have that hanging over my head. It is D-U-N done!

Anyway, live long and prosper fellow carbon-based life forms!
